Peace corps

The Peace Corps is a volunteer program run by the United States government. The stated mission of the Peace Corps includes providing technical assistance, helping people outside the United States to understand American culture, and helping Americans to understand the cultures of other countries. The work is generally related to social and economic development.

As a Youth Development/Asset Building Associate, I performed participatory-style needs assessments in collaboration with local counterparts and associations. I managed to align partnerships and secured over $3,400 for a 3-day youth-focused photography workshop. I educated over 70 Moroccan youth in employability, resume building, volunteerism and planned and conducted workshops in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Youth and Sports. Finally, I counseled and monitored the orchestration of a blood pressure testing event, successfully examining and educating over 1,100 Moroccan locals at the testing station at the 2014 Sefrou Cherry Festival.

Through the Lens | Photo Education in Rural Morocco

In collaboration with local organizations, I coordinated a 3 day youth-focused photography workshop, facilitated by a couple Peace Corps volunteers, Prints For Prints, a team of Moroccan photographers, and a few local counterparts. The workshop was held in my Peace Corps site located near the Middle Atlas mountains, from February 7th until February 9th of 2015.
